rooftops — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
The short version
rooftops has no accounts and no sign-in, and the developer collects nothing about you. Your progress stays on your device. The iPhone and Android apps show ads, and Google's ad network does collect some data to do that — that section is spelled out below. The version at rooftopspuzzle.com shows no ads at all.
Data stored on your device
Game progress, settings, daily-streak and best-time records are saved in your browser's (or the app's) local storage, on your device only. Deleting the app or clearing site data removes them. None of it is sent anywhere.
Advertising
The iPhone and Android apps are free and are funded by ads served through Google AdMob: a banner on the home screen, an ad after every third puzzle you finish, and an optional video you can choose to watch in exchange for a hint. Ads never appear during a puzzle in progress.
To serve, cap and measure those ads, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier, your interaction with the ads, approximate (country-level) location derived from your IP address, and technical diagnostics about ad delivery. This identifier is not tied to your name or to any account, because rooftops has none. Where you have allowed it, Google may also use this information to personalize ads, which can involve tracking across other apps and websites.
What Google does with that data is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Your choices
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, a consent form appears the first time you open the app, and your answer decides whether ads may be personalized. On iPhone, the system also asks for permission to track. You can decline either one — the game plays exactly the same, and you simply get less relevant ads.
You can change your mind later from your device, not from inside the game: on iPhone under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and on Android under Settings → Google → Ads, where you can also reset or delete your advertising ID.
Analytics
The published builds of rooftops collect no usage analytics. If that ever changes, any such data would be anonymous and this page would be updated before the build shipped.
Music and assets
All music in rooftops was created by the developer using AI tools and is used with full rights.
Children
rooftops is rated suitable for all ages, but it is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. It asks for no personal information from anyone. Because the apps show ads, they are not part of any children's programme or kids category.
